Experiencing issues logging a track with the app?
Here are several steps you can follow to fix the problem.
Basic troubleshooting steps:
Make sure you’re using the latest version of the app.
Open Google Play on your mobile and look for the app.
If there’s a new version available, please update it.
Uninstall and reinstall the app.
Open the Date and Time settings and make sure the time zone is set correctly.
Ensure Automatic date and time is activated.
Give the app permission to access your location.
Open your device settings → Localization → select the app → ensure localization is activated.
Activate GPS on your device.
Open device settings → Localization → select High precision for more accurate location.
Reset A-GPS.
This lets your device reconnect to the best satellites.
Disable battery optimization and energy saving features.
Did the app stop while you were logging a track,
or did it not log the distance correctly?
Most problems with GPS on Android occur because these settings aren’t properly configured.
If you experience GPS or background tracking issues, please follow the steps below for your device. These adjustments disable battery-saving features that can interfere with app performance.
If your device is running Android 6 or higher, please follow these instructions:
HUAWEI (HarmonyOS / recent EMUI 2025)
1. Disable Power Saving / Battery Modes
Go to Settings → Battery (or Settings → Battery & performance)
Turn Power saving mode OFF
Turn Ultra power saving mode OFF (if present)
2. Disable Battery Optimization / Ignore Optimisations
Go to Settings → Apps & Services → Permission manager
Tap the menu (3 dots) → Special access → Battery optimization / Ignore optimisations
Choose All apps, find your app, and set to Don’t allow or Not allowed
3. Disable Automatic App Closure / Configure App Launch
Go to Settings → Battery → App launch (or App start)
Find your app
Turn off Manage automatically
Manually enable Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background (if those toggles appear)
Once these settings are updated, your app should run in the background without being closed automatically, and GPS tracking should function more reliably.
SAMSUNG (2025)
1. Disable power saver / power saving mode
Open Settings → Battery and device care (or Device care)
Tap Battery
Turn Power Saving Mode Off
2. Disable battery optimization for the app
In Settings → Apps
Tap the three-dot menu (top right) → Special access
Select Optimize battery usage
Tap the dropdown (or filter) and set it to All apps
Find your app in the list
Make sure the toggle for optimization is turned Off (i.e. the app is Not optimized)
On some Android versions, this is labeled Unrestricted or Don’t optimize instead
After disabling these settings, the app should no longer be restricted by power-saving modes, and tracking or notifications should work as expected.
GOOGLE PIXEL (Stock Android 2025)
1. Disable Battery Saver / Power Modes
Open Settings → Battery
Turn Battery Saver OFF
2. Disable Battery Optimization / Adaptive Battery
Open Settings → Apps → Special app access → Battery optimization
Switch to All apps, find your app, and select Don’t optimize
Optionally, turn Adaptive Battery off in Settings → Battery → Adaptive Battery to prevent background restrictions
3. Allow Background Activity / App Launch
Open Settings → Apps → [Your App] → Battery
Enable Background activity
Make sure Unrestricted data usage is allowed if using mobile data
After completing these steps, your Pixel should log tracks correctly.
Make sure your location settings are set to High accuracy under Settings → Location → Mode.
HTC (2025)
1. Disable Power Saver Mode
Open Settings → Power → Power saver
Toggle the Power saver switch to "Off"
This action helps prevent the device from reducing background activity, which can interfere with app performance.
2. Disable Battery Optimization for the App
Open Settings → Power → Battery optimization
Tap "Not optimized" → Select "All apps"
Find and select your app
Tap "Don't optimize" → Tap "Done"
This ensures the app can run in the background without restrictions.
3. Disable Automatic App Closure
Open Settings → Power → App launch
Find your app
Toggle "Manage automatically" to "Off"
Allow all three activities (Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background)
Tap "OK"
This prevents the system from automatically closing the app to save battery.
After completing these steps, the app should be able to run in the background reliably, and GPS tracking should work without interruption.
SONY (Xperia Devices 2025)
1. Disable STAMINA Mode
Open Settings → Battery → STAMINA mode
Toggle the switch to "Off"
This action prevents the device from limiting background processes and reducing performance to save battery.
2. Disable Battery Optimization for Specific Apps
Open Settings → Battery → More options (three dots) → Battery optimization
Switch to "All apps"
Find and select the app
Choose "Don't optimize"
This ensures that the selected app is not restricted by battery-saving features.
These steps allow the app to run in the background and record tracks accurately without being stopped by STAMINA or battery restrictions.
LG (2025)
1. Disable Battery Saver Mode
Open Settings → Battery & power saving
Tap on Battery Saver
Toggle the switch to "Off"
This action prevents the device from limiting background processes and reducing performance to save battery.
2. Disable Battery Optimization for Specific Apps
Open Settings → Battery & power saving
Tap on Battery usage
Tap on Ignore optimizations
Find and select the app
Toggle to "On" to exclude it from battery optimization
This ensures that the selected app is not restricted by battery-saving features.
After these adjustments, the app should perform background activity without being restricted.
ONE PLUS (OxygenOS 12–14 & Most 2025)
1. Disable Battery Saver Mode
Open Settings → Battery
Tap Battery Saver
Toggle Battery Saver Off
This prevents the device from limiting background activity and performance.
2. Disable Battery Optimization for the App
Open Settings → Battery → Battery optimization (or Battery usage → Battery optimization)
Tap the menu (three dots) in the top right → Advanced optimization / All apps
Find your app in the list → select Don't optimize
This ensures the app runs without being restricted by battery-saving features.
Once these settings are applied, your app should run in the background uninterrupted.
MIUI (2025)
1. Open Settings
Go to Settings → Battery & performance
2. Select App Battery Saver / Battery Optimization
Tap Battery usage
Tap App battery saver (or Apps)
Find your app in the list
3. Disable Optimization for the App
Set the app to No restrictions or Don't optimize
This ensures the app can run in the background without being limited by MIUI's aggressive battery management.
After making these changes, your app can track reliably even when the device is idle.
OTHER DEVICES (Disable Energy Saving & Battery Optimization 2025)
1. Open Settings
Go to Settings → Battery (or Battery & Device Care, depending on device)
2. Disable Power/Battery Saver
Turn Power Saving Mode or Battery Saver Off
3. Disable Battery Optimization for the App
Go to Settings → Apps → [Your App]
Tap Battery → Battery optimization (sometimes under Advanced or Special Access)
Select All apps → Find your app → Set to Not optimized or No restrictions
These steps ensure the app is not restricted by any power-saving settings and can run as expected.
Tip: Some manufacturers may label these settings differently (Energy Saver, STAMINA, Ultra Battery Saver). The goal is to ensure the app can run in the background without limitations.
