GPS troubleshooting Guide - Android

Did you have a problem logging a track with an app that is compatible with Skitude? If so, we have quite a few options to suggest that could help you solve your problems.

Make sure you’re using the latest version of the app

  • Open Google Play on your mobile and look for the app
  • If there’s a new version available, please update it

Uninstall and reinstall the app

  • Open the “Date and Time” option and make sure the time zone is set correctly.
  • Make sure the option “Automatic date and time” is activated.

Give us permission to access your location

  • Activate localization for the app. To do so, open the settings on your mobile, select “Localization”, look for the app and make sure that localization is activated.

Activate GPS on your device

  • Open the settings on your mobile
  • Select “Localization”
  • To get more accurate localization, select the “High precision” option

Reset A-GPS

  • This app lets you configure the best satellites again

Disable battery optimization and energy savings.

Did the app stop while you were logging a track, or did it not log the distance correctly?

Most problems with GPS in Android occur because these settings aren’t properly configured. If you are using a device with Android 6 or higher, please follow these instructions:

Huawei

Disable the power saver mode

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery”
  • Disable “Power saving mode” and “Ultra power saving mode”

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the mobile settings and select “Applications”
  • Tap again on "Applications"
  • Click on the three dots that appear at the top right of the screen and select "Special access"
  • Select "Battery optimization"
  • Switch to "All apps" (Not allowed -> All apps)
  • Find the app you want to manage
  • Select the app and tap to "Not allowed"

Disable the automatic closing of the apps.

  • Go to the device "settings" and tap to "Battery".
  • Select "App launch"
  • Find the app you want to configure and switch "Manage automatically" off.
  • Allow the app to perform all three types of activities and tap to "OK".

SAMSUNG

Disable the power saver mode

  • Open the mobile settings and select “Battery and device care”
  • Select Battery
  • Turn the Power Saving Mode "Off"

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Apps”
  • Open the menu by clicking on the three dots that appear at the top right of the screen
  • Select “Special access”
  • Click on “Optimize battery usage”
  • Look for the app and make sure it isn’t activated (It shouldn’t be selected)

HTC

Disable energy saving mode

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Energy”
  • Disable energy saving mode (select off)

Disable battery optimization

  • From the start screen, select /helpdesk/attachments/101021141425 and then search, and click on Settings
  • Select “Energy”
  • Click on “Battery optimization”
  • Select “Not optimized” – “All apps” to see the full list
  • Look for and select the app, and then click on "Do not optimize"

Sony

Disable the power saver mode

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery”
  • Click on STAMINA and select “Never”

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery”
  • Open the menu by clicking on the three dots you’ll find in the upper right of the screen
  • Click on “Battery optimization”
  • Look for the app and make sure it isn’t activated (It shouldn’t be selected)

LG

Disable the power saver mode

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Apps”
  • Click on “General”
  • Select “Battery and Power Saving”
  • Toggle Battery Saver off

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery and energy saving”
  • Click on “Battery use”
  • Select “Ignore optimizations”
  • Look for the app and activate “Ignore optimizations”

One Plus

Disable the power saver mode

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery”
  • Turn the battery saver off

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the device settings
  • Select “Battery”
  • Click on “Battery optimizations”
  • Select the menu at the top of the screen and click on “All apps”
  • Look for the app and select “Don’t optimize”

MIUI

Disable battery optimization

  • Open the device settings
  • Select additional settings
  • Click on “Battery and performance”
  • Select “Battery use”
  • Select “apps”, look for the app and disable optimization

Other devices

Please make sure that energy saving and battery optimization are disabled before using any Skitude application. To do so, read the different routes for other devices and try to disable both options.
